Basic Job Purpose/Function:

In close collaboration with Rogue Food Unites (RFU) staff, the Director of Operations, Logistics and Procurement Manager, Food Truck Coordinator, alongside other community partners and volunteers, this position will be responsible for assisting the coordination of all aspects of food truck events, maintaining and maximizing the RFU facilities, fleet and equipment. This position requires discretion, flexibility, and strong attention to detail.

Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: assisting Food Truck Coordinator with product rotation, walk-in cleanliness and inventory, in close collaboration with the Food Truck Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator; will oversee volunteers, event prep, following nutritional guidelines, ensuring employees and volunteers follow proper sanitation and safety standards, helping to coordinate food service operations while strictly adhering to Health Department requirements, regular deep cleaning of the food truck in addition to maintaining and cleaning all equipment.

Rogue Food Unites is developing core programs but also is a first responder for disaster relief and responsibilities will include responding to emergent needs that are region - and disaster - specific.

Essential Duties:

1.  SITE & MEAL PREP: In collaboration with the Food Truck Coordinator; will ensure that the distribution site is clean and ready for food service. Assist in making sure the food truck is ready to operate any shift(s) by having propane full and enabled, generator maintained, and everything secured inside the food truck.

2. SITE & MEAL CLEANUP: In collaboration with the Food Truck Coordinator; responsible for all clean up relating to meal preparation in the food truck, warehouse and/or commercial kitchen. Must consistently return the food truck to the condition in which it originated. All food waste shall be disposed of and any perishable items should be returned to the RFU facility. 

3. Maintenance & Repair: Assists Logistics and Procurement Manager with any renovations, refurbishments, and office updates to ensure everything runs smoothly and according to rules and regulations. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of buildings and vehicles to adhere to health and safety standards and legal requirements, including conducting waste disposal. Dealing with emergencies as they arise. Forecasting the facility’s upcoming needs and requirements. 

4. Technical Support: Assist with maintaining office computers, wifi, security systems and related technology, either directly or through coordination with outside service providers or contractors. 

5. Program Participation: Actively collaborates with the RFU Operations, Programs & Production teams in the planning, delivery, and tracking of meals-related programming. Manages the facilities and equipment to high standards that assist with quality control for production and delivery with the Associate Director of Programs/Operations. Helps with loading and unloading deliveries, organizing and ordering event materials and equipment, and participating in community events with staff, volunteers and clients. 

6. Perform related duties as assigned. Includes non-emergent tasks and also being “hands on” as needed for whatever duties are required during times of emergency or disaster. Occasional travel is required. Hours of work engagement will vary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures

  • Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including internet and e-mail.

  • Valid Oregon’s Driver’s License.

  • Must have scheduling flexibility to work events and perform emergency services.

  • Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends as needed for events.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, highly fluid work environment with frequent interruptions.

  • Possession of a valid Oregon Food Handler’s card, or the ability to obtain one

   Desired Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Business or related field desirable.

  • Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft office tools.

  • Two years experience in repair and maintenance of equipment, furniture, fixtures, facilities systems, grounds and structures.

  • Ability to pull and back up a trailer, or willingness to learn. 

  • Bilingual and/or bicultural.

Working Conditions:

The bulk of this work will be also performed in a warehouse where food is prepared for delivery and involves physical requirements as outlined below. Frequent interruption or change in workflow is expected. 

Must be able to meet other usual and customary physical requirements including: 

  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.

  • Regular lifting up to 50lbs, to load and transport supplies, furniture, fixtures, etc.

  • Occasional lifting of over 50lbs, with assistance.

  • Regular crouching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, etc. to facilitate various repairs and maintenance activities.

  • Regular reaching including over-head to stock and retrieve supplies, equipment, painting, repairs, etc.

  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.

  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.

  • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.

  • Must be able to work in extreme cold or hot environments and on concrete floors or uneven ground.

  • Physical ability to work indoors if masked; including sitting, standing, loading, running, and/or climbing stairs while masked.
