Basic Job Purpose/Function:

In close collaboration with Rogue Food Unites (RFU) staff, the Outreach Manager plans,ccoordinates, and manages the quality and commitment of outreach efforts, both currently running and additionally as needed. They're also responsible for keeping leadership informed on administrative changes, schedule changes, and continued community involvement. They serve as a point of contact by formulating, organizing and monitoring inter-connected projects. They serve as a lead for our relationship with clients. Responsible for deciding on suitable strategies and objectives, and being able to coordinate cross-project processes and procedures. This position requires discretion, flexibility, and strong attention to detail. Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to leading Outreach Coordinators. Speaking at public events and representing in Community Based Organization meetings, monitoring the client intake line, meeting with existing and prospective clients. Assists with recruiting, training, overseeing programs, and managing the Outreach Department. Also will lead other administrative workers in special projects or cross-functional team work. Rogue Food Unites is continuing to develop core programs and is a first responder for disaster relief. Responsibilities will include adapting core programs to emergent needs that are disaster-specific in the state of Oregon.

Essential Duties:

1. Programmatic Management Support & Coordination: Pertinent role in ensuring and managing what has to happen in programs according to contracts. Lead and evaluate project leads and other staff in the department. Develop and control deadlines, budgets and activities. Serve as a point of contact by formulating, organizing and monitoring inter-connected projects.

2. Database Management & Reports: Apply change, risk and resource management.

Assume responsibility for the program’s people and vendors. Assess program performance and aim to maximize ROI. Resolve projects’ higher scope issues. Prepare reports for program directors and Leadership Team based on data reports from Client Liaison Manager and the Outreach Team.

3. Client Liaison Assistance: Keeps consistent contact with clients in assisting with connecting them with resources, taking care of clients, and answering their questions with exceptional customer service. Participates in planning and supporting community projects in conjunction with managers and event coordinators. Engages with staff, volunteers, partners, and clients to deliver services through a variety of channels and serves in a flexible capacity to do what is needed to help meet the organization’s mission.

4. Communications. Assists in developing and providing content for social media channels to encourage and appreciate programs and program development. Coordinate with the Marketing Committee, management team and/or Communications Consultants to present information about the organization in a timely and appropriate manner on social media channels and other forms of PR/media. Prepare or assist in the preparation of grant requests and funding continuation from outside sponsors.

5. Perform related duties as assigned. Includes non-emergent tasks and also being “hands on” as needed for whatever duties are required during times of emergency or disaster. Occasional travel is required. Hours of work engagement may vary.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Business, Social Sciences, or related field.

● At least four (2) years of Program Development and Management experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

● At least three (3) years of Volunteer Coordination experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

● At least three (3) years Hospitality experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

● Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, highly fluid work environment with frequent interruptions.

● Approximately 10% of the time may be spent in traveling to all 36 counties in the State of Oregon.

Desired Qualifications:

● Bilingual in English and Spanish

● Any Hospitality experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

● Any disaster preparedness experience.

● Experience in food justice / advocacy.

● Experience in Social Services.

● Current leader in an Oregon community.

● Experience mentoring a small team.

● Experience with implementation of a strategic plan for outreach team

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer terminal, although work is also performed in a warehouse where food is prepared for delivery and/or outside/onsite at various locations in different weather conditions. Must be flexible in order to lead, manage, and participate in evening and weekend outreach and engagement events. Must be able to prioritize responsibilities according to changing circumstances. Repetitive hand/write motion for data-entry and keyboarding functions. Occasional strain to the eyes while working with a computer terminal. Frequent interruption or change in workflow is expected.

Must be able to meet other usual and customary physical requirements including:

■ Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.

■ Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move boxes or bags of food weighing up to 40 pounds regularly/occasionally

■ Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.

■ Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.

■ Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.

■ Must be able to work in cold or hot environments and on concrete floors.

■ Physical ability to work indoors if masked for COVID protection, including sitting, standing, loading, running, and/or climbing stairs while masked.
